Orange Beach

What a beautiful day on Alabama’s Gulf Coast! We had never been before, and by the end of the day we all declared it a place we’d like to return to.

We started the day beach combing. We found lots of shells, most of them broken, but that didn’t deter my girls.

At one point we noticed a lot of “debris” along the beach, which was odd because the rest of it had been very clean. Upon closer inspection we discovered the “debris” was actually a large amount of jellyfish washed up on shore. They had already begun bloating in the heat of the day. Although I don’t like encoutering jellyfish in the ocean, it was still kinda sad to see them all washed up like that.

There wasn’t much going in the water that day, because the beach had both red flag (high / strong surf, use caution) and a purple flag (dangerous marine life in the water) flying, so we kept close to shore.

We had lunch at Moe’s BBQ. It was okay. The pulled pork was good, but I should’ve asked for it plain. I’m a bit picky when it comes to barbecue sauce. The cornbread was really good, and the banana pudding made a great dessert.

We decided to check out the beach at night, and Jillian didn’t want to leave!

All in all it was a wonderful day at Orange Beach. Highly recommend!
